Last week, while I was in a meeting with my Boss Venkat (Avanade chennai- Lead), I heard him talking about a book written by Gurucharan Das, the ex-CEO of Procter & Gamble. I am not a book worm and hence I try reading only those books which impress me. When Venkat told us about the concept of this book, I was very curious and made up my mind that I will definitely read this book. The book basically talks about why a person cannot be always good in the current industry. The author has tried to explain this by relating it with Mahabharatha.
While Venkat was explaining about the concept and why we should read this book, my mind was thinking something else in the back ground. It is about my another colleague..
He has been always impressing me by saying small small stories and relating that to the way personal/official life works. He has spoken many such incidents from Mahabharatha during his explanations. Hence, my mind said that I should gift this book to him and ask him to read and explain from how he perceives what has been written.
Immediately that weekend I went to LandMark to search for the book and came to know that both the two copies of the book are being reserved. However, I somehow persuaded the shopkeeper to give the book to me as I am very curious to buy that. He confirmed and handed over the book to me. The moment I got the book on hand I felt that I have achieved my first milestone of buying this book.
Now next step is to read!!!
Came home and that night before sleeping I read the book… I was taken by surprise to the read the first few pages on Mahabharatha. Coz I have heard Mahabharatha many times from childhood from my grandma; however the book reflected exactly the same way my friend used to narrate Mahabharatha to me… Every incident, their depth, the sayings etc….
I was very impressed and felt that he is a guy who really will cause an impact on the society because everyone can talk about anything however, conceiving the needed things and narrating them back in effective manner is more important.
Person with such a skill will definitely impact the society correct??? What say????
With this thought in mind, I started proceeding further. Now I am more curious to know how the author is narrating this in the book…
I will read further and write here more….. stay tuned ………………….
